- What is the difference
between skilled and comprehensive nursing?
The difference between skilled and comprehensive
care is the payer source. A stay in a
Skilled bed is covered by Medicare Part
A after a person has had a 3 day hospital
stay and has a qualifying condition that
requires nursing care. A stay in a Comprehensive
bed is private pay only.
- What do I need to bring
with me?
Pack as if you will be staying in hotel.
Bring a few changes of clothes, your personal
items such as toothbrush, hairbrush, etc.,
and any other items that will make you
feel at home.
- How long will Medicare
pay for my stay?
Medicare Part A will cover a stay on
the Skilled nursing unit for up to 100
days. The first 20 days are paid for my
Medicare at 100%. Beginning on day 21,
there is a co-pay of $128.00 per day.
If a resident has a supplemental insurance,
this co-pay will be covered by that policy.
If they do not have co-insurance, the
co-pay will need to be covered through
private pay resources.
During the 100 day stay, a resident must
continue to reach set goals and make therapy
progress in order to remain covered by
Medicare. If coverage is nearing an end
due to a plateau in therapy or the end
of the 100 days, the resident and family
will be notified and kept up to date on
the final covered day. At that point the
resident has the option to move to Comprehensive
and pay privately for continued care and
treatment.
- Does Meadowood Health
Pavilion accept Medicaid?
Meadowood Health Pavilion does not participate
in the Medicaid program. In order to receive
Medicaid benefits, a resident would need
to transfer to a Medicaid-participating
facility.
- Is there a deposit
for moving into Meadowood Health Pavilion?
Meadowood Health Pavilion does not require
a deposit as a condition of admission,
or for continued stay in the facility.
- Can family members
eat meals and attend activities with Meadowood
Health Pavilion residents?
Absolutely! Family members are welcome
and encouraged to join their family member
for meals as well as the multitude of
activities offered in the Health Pavilion.
- What charges are not
covered by Medicare Part A during someone's
qualified stay?
Medicare Part A does not pay for laundry,
telephone, or beauty/barber shop services
during a qualified stay. Those costs are
the responsibility of the resident or
family member.
- Does one need to have
an affiliation with Indiana University to
come to Meadowood Health Pavilion?
No. The Health Pavilion is open to everyone.
- Do you have a dementia
care unit?
At this time, the Health Pavilion does
not have a dedicated dementia care unit.
- Can family members
take residents out of the facility for a
drive or for other errands?
Pending a doctor's order and approval
for leave of absences, family members
may take residents out of the facility.
If a resident is under Medicare A coverage,
they must return to the facility by midnight
in order for Medicare to continue payment.
- Do we need to use
Meadowood's doctor and pharmacy?
Families and residents have the right
to use any doctor or pharmacy of their
choosing. However, only a limited number
of physicians visit Meadowood and will
follow patients here. We will be happy
to furnish you with a list of doctors
who make calls to Meadowood. In the event
that a doctor will not follow a patient
and make visits to Meadowood, the family
must arrange to take the resident to the
doctor's office once every 30 days. If
this is not a feasible option, residents
may switch doctors to the Meadowood Medical
Directors, Brad Bomba, Jr. MD, FACP and
L. Kay Fields, MSN, NP.
Meadowood's Medicare A contract pharmacy
is Williams Brothers but families have
the right to decline their services. Private
paying residents may also choose their
own pharmacy or can opt to go with Williams
Brothers. If deciding not to use Williams
Brothers, the resident (or resident's
family) must assume certain responsibilities
for obtaining prescriptions, in order
for the facility to comply with state
regulations.
- What are the visiting
hours?
There are no set visiting hours for Meadowood
Health Pavilion. Family and friends are
welcome to visit at any time. The front
doors are locked at 9 p.m. but there is
a bell that one can ring for access after
this time.
